To comply with the Income Tax Act, employers must submit their Monthly Employer Declarations (EMP201’s) to the South African Revenue Services (SARS). The EMP201 requires employers to indicate the total payment made and provides a breakdown of Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Skills Development Levy (SDL) and Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) as well as the Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) amounts, if applicable for the period.
During the Employer Reconciliation process, employers are required to submit their Employer Reconciliation Declaration (EMP501), which reconciles the taxes collected from employees with the payments made to SARS and the total tax value of employees’ tax certificates, for the respective period.
